Haha its funny becuase I missed the glory days when GW was at its height. I came back at the end of factions slightly close to the time when NF came out and have been going on and off ever since (because every now and then it gets interesting)...

The world championships were always an advertising vehicle first and foremost; GWWC was tied to promoting the brand for Factions, the GWFC very explicitly for promoting Nightfall. With no further releases on the horizon, it didn't make sense to pump a bunch of money into big tournaments.
